Guy W. "Wally" Treadway, 84, of Robinson, IL, died on September 19, 2021, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. He was born June 23, 1937, in West York, IL, the son of Samuel & Doris (Hand) Treadway, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Garrard, and by his brothers, Richard (who was killed in Korea), Hubert Treadway, and Harold Gene Treadway (who died in infancy). He married Shirley Adams on February 16, 1963, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Anthony (Christy) and Patrick (Kylene Assorgi), and by his former daughter-in-law, Lori Hayden Treadway. Four grandchildren, Hayden Treadway, Henry Treadway, Edyth Treadway, and Kate Assorgi, survive him, as do his sister & brother-in-law, Maureen & Mike Kessler; his brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Pat & Jayne Adams; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Wally graduated from Hutsonville High School with the class of 1955. He would eventually take drafting classes at VU at night for the 1964-65 school year as well. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1958-1962. Much of that time was spent in France. In 2003, he had the opportunity to return there with his wife, sharing his experiences with her while celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. He was involved in the family masonry trade until 1966, when he went to work at the CIPS Generating Plant in Hutsonville. Here, Wally was a staple in the storeroom before ending his career as the storekeeper when he retired in 1998. After retirement, he put his masonry skills to good use, helping with the local Habitat for Humanity, and was a longtime volunteer for the Robinson Food Pantry as well. Wally also served as the president of the Robinson Township Fire Department Board for a number of years. He was a faithful member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Trustee Committee for two terms. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Monday, September 27th, at the Robinson First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at the church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 28th, with Rev. Jay Regennitter officiating, assisted by Rev. T.R. Akers. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "NOW Program" (through the Robinson FUMC), helping to send supplemental food home on weekends with a number of students in the Robinson School District. In honor of his years with the Robinson Township Fire Department Board, memorials may also be made to the department’s "Toys for Tots" program. Envelopes will be available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
