Guido "John" Gallo

Guido “John” Gallo, 88, formerly of Robinson, Illinois, died February 4, 2009 in Mequon, Wisconsin. He was born December 8, 1920, in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, South America, the son of Benvenuto Gallo and Carolina D'Agostini Gallo. He served in the Brazilian Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, E.M. Coulter American Legion Post #69 and BPO Elks. He was owner of Gallo's Red and White supermarket for 20 years in Robinson and had owned a grocery in Clinton, IN. He married Mary Airola October 29, 1949. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Alcides Gallo.He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, John Michael and Terrie Gallo, of Grafton, Wisconsin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joana Cristina Gallo Marsteller and her husband, Jack Marsteller, of Manhattan Beach, California, and Mary Teresa Gallo and husband Tony Bridges, of Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving are grandchildren, Christina (Ryan) McNichol, Michael (Julie) Gallo, Stephanie (Chris) Saali, all of Wisconsin, and John Jackson Philip Marsteller, of California; great grandson Mason McNichol; and two sisters-in-law, Madeline Counsell, Clinton, IN and Dee Airola, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson, Saturday, February 14, at 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 with Rev. Bill Overmann officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Clinton, Indiana at 1:00 p.m. (C.S.T), 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) with Father Joseph Villa officiating. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
