Greta E. Bennett, 81, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:47 a.m. on February 9, 2011 at her residence. She was born August 20, 1929 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Charles E. Earleywine and Lou E. Van Horn Earleywine. After working for the Schmidt Clinic, two attorneys, the Robinson Cable Company and three oil companies, she retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1985. She was a Camp Fire Girl leader, a member of the Oak Glennettes Golf Team and a member of the First Christian Church of Palestine, IL.On May 7, 1955, she married Alfred Lee €œAl€ Bennett of Marshall, IL, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Aubrey W. of Springfield, IL, Neal H. of Indianapolis, IN, Amos L. €œTed€ of Hutsonville, IL, Charles, Jr. of Palestine, IL and R. Keith (in infancy); four sisters, Zola Earleywine, Doris E. Newlin, Margaret €œPeg€ Whipkey, all of Robinson, IL, and Iris M. Newlin of Hutsonville, IL; two nephews, Aubrey Wayne Earleywine of Lexington, KY and Neal Mark Earleywine of Springfield, IL.Also preceding her in death were her parents-in-law, Timothy and Pearl Wallace Bennett; brothers-in-law, Sie J. Whipkey of Robinson, IL, Joseph T. Bennett of Rosedale, IN, James R. Bennett of Denver, CO, Victor T. Bennett of Marshall, IL; four sisters-in-law, Marcella Earleywine, Hutsonville, IL, Virginia S. Bennett, Marshall, IL, Rosemary Bates High, Marshall, IL, and V. Martha Bennett of Rosedale, IN.She is survived by one brother, Alan Van Earleywine of Palestine, IL, one brother-in-law, Morgan Newlin of Hutsonville, IL; four sisters-in-law, Winifred Earleywine of Springfield, IL, Bettylou Earleywine of Indianapolis, IN, Colleen Earleywine of Robinson, IL, Phyllis Bennett Pritchard of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL, with Rev. Tom Akers officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer€™s Association or to the Palestine Preservation Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
