Gregory L. Bowen

Gregory L. Bowen, 67, of Robinson, IL, died January 16, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. Greg was born on October 2, 1952, in Robinson, the son of Earnest Bowen & Marjorie Bowen, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Billie (Wirey) on September 6, 1991, and she preceded him in death on November 4, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Olen Bowen, and by his sister, Donna Bowen. He is survived by his children, Beth Johnson, Andy Bowen, Michelle Bowen, Gail Heleine, and Lisa Hightshoe; by his grandchildren, Ethan Bowen, Elijah Bowen, Breann Poole, Brandon Venatta, Mercury Bowen, Malerie Venatta, and Matthew Venatta; by his special friends, Ray & Rita Stephens; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Greg grew up in the Porterville area and was a 1970 graduate of Robinson High School. He would go on to work for Rumpke and Local #841 before getting on at Fair-Rite, where he was employed as a maintenance technician for several years before retiring this past year. Much of Greg's free time found him outdoors. Anyone who knew him could attest to his love of both hunting and fishing, and these provided him with countless hours of peace and enjoyment. At home, few things brought him more happiness than sitting down watching a movie with his beloved family, who will remember the care he gave to each of them. Greg Bowen was a friendly, but straightforward man whose legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the opportunity to know him. His family is coordinating a gathering to celebrate his life from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20th at the Porterville Congregational Christian Church (7640 E 1625th Ave, Robinson, IL, 62454). Memorials may be made to the "American Cancer Society" or to the "National Multiple Sclerosis Society". The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of cremation arrangements.
