Greg Clark

May 15, 1949 — February 7, 2021

Greg Clark, 71, of York, IL, died February 7, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved most in this world. He was born May 15, 1949, in Robinson, IL, the son of Norman & Betty (Seaney) Clark, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mike Clark. He is survived by his children, Sonny & Debbie Sanders, John & Patty Hightshoe, Missy & Steve Nicholson, and Mandy & Charlie Harris; by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; by his brothers, Gary Clark and David & Lori Clark; by several nieces & nephews; and by his girlfriend, Vicki Slane. Greg grew up in the York area and would go on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. We are humbled by the generosity of spirit that enabled him to take up the call of freedom for his fellow man. Back home, he found work helping local farmers and truck driving, but eventually, he found his calling in ironworking. Over the course of his 33-year career, “Clarky” made countless friends as a member of Iron Workers Local #439. He was also a longtime member of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549 and American Legion Post #69. By all accounts, Greg was an avid outdoorsman, having spent innumerable hours hunting, fishing, and being on the river, and these were great sources of joy in his life. More than this, he appreciated time with his beloved family. Simply put, they brought life to his living. They, along with his many, many friends, will remember Greg as a witty soul who could find humor and make light of any situation. We recognize that we have lost something very special in Greg Clark, but are all thankful that his memory will continue to live on in our hearts for as long as we live. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th, at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Under Phase 4 Mitigations, public attendance is allowed, but only up to 50 attendees at a time. Thusly, social distancing measures will be in place, and it will be required that all visitors wear face coverings while in the building. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12th, at the funeral home with Brad Daugherty officiating. A live stream of his service can be viewed on Goodwine Funeral Homes’ Facebook page or by going to https://www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com/live-stream/live-stream . Memorial donations may be made to the “V.F.W. Transportation Fund”, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Greg will be laid to rest in York Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.
