Glennda Beard, 80, of Flat Rock, IL, made her way home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2022. She was born on August 31, 1941, in Flat Rock, the daughter of Charles & Florence (Dunlap) Roseman, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Orville Stout, and her brothers, Max Knoblett and Dwight Roseman.
She married George S. "Sam" Beard on July 19, 1963, and he survives. She is also survived by her children, Denise & Frank Wells (Hutsonville, IL), Michelle & Tom Staley (Palestine, IL), and Dwight & Richele Beard (Flat Rock, IL); her grandchildren, David Stout, Kyle Stout, Karen Mattingly, Candi Howard, Levi Staley, Dustin Staley, Whitney Beard, and Zack Beard; by sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A 1959 graduate of Robinson High School, Glennda would go on to hold many positions over the years. She was a clerk and a sitter and eventually even worked for the Illinois State Representative's Office for a time, but she spent most of her career at L.S. Heath/Leaf/Hershey before retiring with 38 years under her belt. Away from work, she enjoyed spending time in her garden and canned the fruits of her labor for many years. Few things brought her more satisfaction than watching beautiful flowers blossom and thrive under her care. The same could be said of her family, who benefitted from this dear woman's love. That love was evident in the time she made to be with them, be that woodworking with Sam or going to rummage sales with her daughters.
Throughout her 80 years, it was evident that Glennda had a servant's heart. Her others-centered nature bore witness to her walk with Jesus. Though she attended Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Robinson and the Outer West Market Church of Christ in Palestine, it was clear that her faith wasn't confined to a pew, but in the way she joyfully poured herself out for others.
To each family member who stood by her side to help her on her journey to be with Jesus, she will be eternally grateful for the love and care she received from each of you, allowing her to live her remaining days at home, where she always wanted to be. A special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice and to her nurses, Ashton, Anna, and Judy, as well as Crystal, for all they have done for her and her family.
A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Hardinville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glennda Beard family with checks payable to "George Beard". Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
