Glenn Ray Neal, 86, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born April 8, 1925 in Crawford County, IL, on a farm just a stone throw from the Bendteral Bridge. Glenn was the son of Charles S. Neal and Betsy Ann Goff Neal. He retired from the railroad and farming after many years of hard work. He was an avid Robinson Maroon fan, missing very few games through the years. Glen was a fisherman, a hunter, a mushroom hunter, and a St. Louis Cardinal fan. He loved family and big family get-togethers. He opened his door and heart to everyone he met. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger.Glenn was one of eleven children who preceded him in death; his sisters, Betty Jo Ash, Theda Allen, Thelma Weger, Lou Cindy Cochran, Pauline Lindsay, and Alice Weger; his brothers, Paul, Charles, Buster, and Lindsay Neal. He was also preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his sister-in-law, Patsy Neal; several nieces and nephews including Roger Ash, Charles (Jeanette) Lindsay, Daniel Neal, Donna Nicklaus, Billy (Betty) Lindsay, Lyman (Caroline) Lindsay, Revene (Bill) Awe. He was special to all.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, rural Bridgeport, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. preceding the services. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Booster Club with envelopes available at the funeral home.
