Georgia J. Johnson

Georgia J. Johnson, 71, of Robinson, IL, passed away on December 24, 2021, at Richland Nursing & Rehab in Olney, IL following a lengthy illness. She was born January 3, 1950, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Howard & Lucinda (Alton) Hodges. She grew up in the Rockford area and was a 1968 graduate of Rockford East High School. Following graduation, she found work at Amerock Cabinet Hardware and would later find employment in the counseling office at Portage Middle School in Portage, MI, among other jobs. Though she worked in a number of capacities, her life's work was always found at home. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother and will be remembered for pouring so much of herself into each of these roles. She cared not only for her family but for her many dogs as well. Over the course of her life, she rescued many four-legged friends from shelters and humane societies, providing them with a warm and loving home. Her house was also home to many antiques, as Georgia was enamored with old carnival glass and jewelry. Though she wasn't raised in the area, she left her mark on the Robinson community. For years, she volunteered at the Christian Clothing Center and touched many lives in the process. We who are left behind to mourn her passing could never forget the humor and joy with which Georgia lived her life, nor the love that defined her 71 years. On October 4, 1969, she married Larry S. Johnson, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Sara & John A. Atteberry; by her son, Eric Johnson, his significant other, Chris Adkins, and her daughter, Hope; by her grandson, Brice Johnson; by her brother, Richard Nelson; by her sister, Betty Veitch; by her sister-in-law, Susan Johnson; by several nieces and nephews; as well as her last two dogs, Wolfie & Buddy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard & Lucinda Hodges, and by her sisters, Sharron Haigwood and Deana Barconi. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31st, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson.
