George Herman Rayhel

George Herman Rayhel, 82 of Martinsville, IL, formerly of West Union, IL, died at 10:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born October 27, 1927 in Walnut Prairie, Clark County, IL, the son of William Rayhel and Grace Griffin Rayhel. He was an assistant supervisor over production for Conrail, Penn Central and New York Central Railroads for over 30 years. He was a member of the AFL-CIO, Indianapolis, IN, the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way; a former member of the Oddfellows Lodge in West Union, the American Legion, and a retired volunteer fireman for the West Union Volunteer Fire Department.George married Mary Lou Chapman on October 8, 1949 and she survives. He is also survived by 2 sons and his daughter-in-law, Randy Rayhel, Martinsville, Roger and Becky Rayhel, Marshall; his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Emery Pittenger, Martinsville; 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Tina and Greg Lloyd, Staunton, IN, Cherilyn Marie and Jerry Cantrell, Louisville, KY; his grandson, John David Pittenger, Martinsville; 9 great grandchildren, Shanna VanWinfield, Leondrea Rayhel, Alishia Rayhel, Tierra Rayhel, Joseph Rayhel, Damien Cantrell, Christian Cantrell, Thomas Curtis Lloyd, John Louis Lloyd; 4 great great grandchildren, Shawn VanWinfield, Jae` Sean VanWinfield, Sion VanWinfield, Aubrey Lynn Rayhel; 3 brothers, Earl Rayhel, Terre Haute, IN, Floyd Rayhel, Marshall, Lester Rayhel, Belleville, NE; 2 sisters, Rosanna Bowls, West Terre Haute, IN, Doris Burnam, Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, John, Silas, Bob, and Virgil Rayhel; and 2 sisters, Pauline Laufamn and Mary Rayhel.There will be cremation with no services. Burial will be at a later date at the Ohio Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ohio Cemetery, %Laymon Davison, 7223 N. 1400th St, Marshall, IL 62441. The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, West Union is in charge of arrangements.
