George Harry Marzolf, Sr., 65, of Tinley Park, IL, passed away on November 19, 2023, at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, IL. He was born on August 22, 1958, in Tinley Park, IL, the son of Harry & Loretta (Keuch) Marzolf, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda Glor and Karlette Lindeman, and by his brother, Robert "Bob" Lehmann.
He is survived by his children, George, Jr. & Angela Marzolf and Amy & Joe Atkinson; his grandchildren, Geonna, Haylei, Matthew, Christopher, Charles, and James; and his great-grandson, Christopher, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Delbert Marzolf; by several nieces and nephews; and by his special friend, Karen Mell and her grandson, Tyler Mell.
George had an early introduction to the values of hard work, community, and resilience, which he carried with him throughout his life. He graduated from Tinley Park High School and embarked on a career installing overhead garage doors, a profession he devoted many years to. His mechanical mind and knack for problem-solving served him well in his work and personal life, making him a handyman all around.
George was a man of numerous interests and talents. He had a love for hunting and would often take trips to Arkansas, savoring the peace and tranquility of nature. He was also an avid tinkerer, spending countless hours working on his truck and even rebuilding a classic car, a project he was incredibly proud of. George's talents extended beyond mechanics, as he was a skilled carpenter, lending his hand to many who needed help. Despite his gruff exterior and private nature, it was evident that, down deep, George had a heart of compassion. He was a caregiver to his late sister Wanda and brother Bob in their final stages of life, a role he embraced with quiet dignity and grace.
George Harry Marzolf, Sr., a man of few words but many deeds, will be deeply missed. As we remember him, we embrace the lessons he imparted, the values he upheld, and the care he gave. Rest in peace, George. Your legacy lives on.
It was his wish to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
