Gene L Thompson

Gene L. Thompson, 87, of Robinson, IL, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, Robinson. He was born June 21, 1923 in Utica, KY, the son of Emmett Thompson and Clara Myrtle Morris Thompson. Gene served in the U. S. Army during WWII and he sold veterinary supplies. He was a former member of the Robinson Moose Lodge and a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Highland Avenue Baptist Church.Gene married Shirley Gray on May 13, 1972 and she survives. He is also survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Jo and Kevin Walls, Flat Rock and Patricia and Jerry Sparks, Carlisle, IN, his step-son and his wife, Richard and Joy Dunlap, Lilburn, GA; 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley, Austin, Alec Keeler, Brent and Kristina Dees, KyLynn and Danny Scott, Mark Twain and Jennifer Chapman, Sean Chapman, Amy and Justin Goings; 8 great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and his brother, Tilford Thompson, Utica, KY.He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Phyllis Jean Dees; and 2 sisters, Lucille Peak and Amy Neubauer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor George Meese officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 12th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lincolnland Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
