Gene D. Phillippe

Gene D. Phillippe, 80 of Robinson, IL, died at 9:06 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at his residence. He was born June 5, 1929 in Robinson, IL, the son of Lloyd Phillippe and Faye McCarter Phillippe. He was owner/operator of Phillippe Grocery for 43 years and worked at Otto’s Grocery prior to operating the Phillippe Grocery. He attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church and was a member of the Robinson Lions Club. He was a volunteer fireman for 25 years, was a Robinson Township Trustee, he served on the Robinson Clothing Center Committee and the Robinson 4th. of July Committee.Gene married Pat Michael on August 20, 1949 and she preceded him in death on August 11, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Nolan Phillippe.He is survived by his 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael and Lynn Phillippe, Robinson, Jerry and Shelly Phillippe, Ft. Wayne, IN; his grandchildren and their spouses, Andy Phillippe and Jared Phillippe, Ft. Wayne, IN, Jason Phillippe, Robinson, Steve Phillippe and Jennifer, Easley, SC, Kevin Phillippe, Ryan and Leah Pohl, Chicago, Stacie Pohl, Robinson; his step grandchild, Tracey Skinner, Carbondale, his great granddaughter, Addison Phillippe; his step grandchildren, Alex Doby, Eli Davenport, and Micha Pohl; his 2 sisters and his brother-in-law, Carol and Richard Mann, Robinson and Gloria Reynolds, Robinson; his 2 aunts, Reva York, Robinson and Janet Randle, LaPlace, Louisiana; and his uncle, George McCarter, Palestine;Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Clothing Center or the to Robinson Lions Club.
