Gary W. Clark

Gary Wayne Clark, 73, of York, IL, died April 10, 2021, in the comfort of his home. He was born September 23, 1947, in Robinson, IL, the son of Norman Clark & Betty (Seaney) Clark, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Carolyn Tolle in 1965, and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 21, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Clark and Greg Clark. He is survived by his children & their spouses, Ronnie & Janet Clark (York, IL), Randy & Shawnee Clark (West Union, IL), Connie & Brian Mason (West York, IL), and Tony & Sandy Clark (Sumner, IL); by 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; by his brother & sister-in-law, David & Lori Clark; as well as several nieces and nephews. Gary was, by all accounts, an outdoorsman. Though he found employment as an ironworker and welder for a few years, he found his footing in the great wide-open, working the land for many area farmers. Even when he wasn't at work, he could be found outside, enjoying some of his favorite pastimes: four-wheeling, mushroom hunting, trapping, and fishing. The latter was a great source of joy in his life, having spent countless hours on the Wabash River throughout his 73 years. Anyone fortunate enough to know him could attest to Gary's witty sense of humor. Few things made him happier than teasing and joking around, and he did it with such regularity that, if he could have made a living at it, he would have been a millionaire! (In other words, the man was fun to be around.) Though he could be a little bossy (and more than a little stubborn), it was apparent that he loved his family. His grandchildren, in particular, brought life to his living and were each the apple of his eye. May we recall his memory with a sense of pride and respect, recognizing that life is too short to not enjoy it! A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14th at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Black officiating. Burial will be in the York Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his memorial fund, with checks made payable to "Prust-Hosch Funeral Home".
