Freda Goff

Freda Goff, 83, of Palestine, IL, died at 12:31 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. She was born January 27, 1936 in Stoy, IL, the daughter of Pearl Harris & Clara A. (Waldrop) Harris, both of whom preceded her in death. She married David Goff in 1953, and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Harris. She is survived by her two sons, David A. Goff and Steve Goff (both of Palestine, IL); by 3 grandchildren; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Freda grew up in the Palestine area, where she graduated high school. Though she worked for L.S. Heath & Sons, Tempco, and a number of other local businesses, much of her life was dedicated to caring for her home. Much of her free time was spent playing card games, poker being a particular favorite of hers. She spent countless hours at the Palestine Eagles, where she was a charter member. She was also an auxiliary member of the Palestine AmVets, the Robinson V.F.W., and the Robinson American Legion. Friends and family will remember Freda as a spunky soul who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. In short, she lived life her way. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Graveside services will immediately follow and will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating the service. Memorials may be made to her memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”.
