Fred Fowler, 78, of Pall Mall, TN, formerly of Hutsonville, IL, passed away February 11, 2022. He was born September 13, 1943, the son of Maurice & Alice Fowler, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Phyllis Jo Bridgewater on September 28, 1962, and she preceded him in death on October 16, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Whitney Artman, on March 30, 2012; his grandson, Dusty Borders, on December 11, 2015; and his daughter, Chris Fowler, on March 13, 2019.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife, Cheryl Fowler; his daughters, Carol Artman and Shelly Bean; his step-children, Ariel Hoffman, Nick Hoffman, and Robert & Alison Pinkston; his grandchildren, Corey & Sheri Mehler, Haley Bean, Katherine Pinkston, Chloe Pinkston, and Landon Schirr; his great-grandchildren, Mason Mehler, Wyatt Mehler, Willow Mehler, Lillian Wolf; his siblings, Dolores Norris, Barbara Emmitt, Pam & Vern Lyle, Kim & Gary Argo, and Chuck & Margaret Fowler; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Fred grew up in the Old York area, and as a young man, started in the ironworking trade through Ironworkers Local #439 in Terre Haute, IN. He would continue working in this capacity until the untimely passing of his first wife, Phyllis, at which point, he retired. Fred could often be found at the river fishing. Few things brought more peace and fulfillment to his soul than time spent with a rod and reel in his hand, (though taking one of his many guns out shooting was a close second!) This avid outdoorsman also enjoyed the thrill of four-wheeler riding out in God's creation.
Fred Fowler was an honorable, well-respected man, but what's more, he was well-loved. His family's rock, his life left an indelible mark on his family and friends, who will cherish his memory forever.
A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Hutsonville Cemetery. The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union is in charge of arrangements.
