Frank Liston

Frank D. Liston, 75 of Palestine, IL, died at Good Samaritan Hospital Saturday, April 18, 2009. He was born January 29, 1934 in Flat Rock, the son of Forrest Liston and Ellen Miller Liston. He was a self employed area painter and decorator for over 40 years. He served in the U. S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Palestine Masonic Lodge #849 for 45 years and was a member of the Danville Consistory Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188.He married Sarah Shew July 15, 1955 and she survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Twila and Mike O’Neal, rural Palestine, Tonya and Alan Truitt, Kilgore, TX; his nephew and his wife, Mike and Sherry Massie, Greenwood, IN, who lived with Frank and Sarah through his high school and college years; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Tai Ann and James Roy, Robinson, Tara and Matt Turner, Robinson, Taylea Truitt, Kilgore, TX, Ashlee Massie, Greenwood, IN and Christopher Massie, Greenwood, IN; 4 great grandchildren, Landon, Logan, and Layton Roy, Robinson, and Brayden Turner, Robinson. He was also survived by 3 brothers and their wives, Harry and Barbara Liston, Nashville, TN, Eulis “Jack” and Linda Liston, Vincennes, IN, Gaylord “Ray” and Della Liston, New Palestine, IN; 2 sisters and his brother-in-law, Lavera and Chalmer Seaney, Jr., rural Robinson and Nadine McCreery, New Palestine, IN.He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers, Noble, Chuck, Harold, Lawrence, Chester, and Norman Dale.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine with Rev. John Brand officiating. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21st and until service time on Wednesday. Masonic services will be conducted following visitation at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home by the Palestine Masonic Lodge #849. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and the Amvets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Public Library Building Fund with envelopes at the funeral home.
