Floyd "Lynn" Stout

June 19, 1963 — February 7, 2025

Floyd "Lynn" Stout, 61, of Hutsonville, IL, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 7, 2025. Born on June 19, 1963, in Robinson, IL, Lynn spent his youth roaming the backroads of Crawford County and even spent a brief stint in Mississippi. His upbringing gave him a deep appreciation for the land, an adventurous spirit, and a lifelong connection to nature.

Lynn wasn't a man defined by a career but by a collection of experiences. Over the years, he wore many hats—working in the oil fields, lending a hand on local farms, and spending time at the elevator. He even tried his luck working in Chicago with a neighbor for a while. His life was a series of odd jobs and new experiences, each one leaving a story to tell—and Lynn always had a story to tell! He could often be found swapping tales at the gas station or coffee shop, holding court with his friends in his shed or on the front porch, and sipping on a Coke and eating fresh watermelon with his buddies, Herb and Marty. His stories, much like Lynn himself, were colorful, lively, and entirely his own.

He was resilient—a true fighter who always managed to bounce back, no matter what life threw his way. After a harrowing accident on Route 1 involving a semi, he spent weeks in the hospital, but Lynn wasn't one to stay down for long. His life was proof of the strength it takes to get back up, time and time again. Though he could be gruff on occasion, down deep, Lynn was a man with a heart as big as the outdoors he loved. He had a knack for finding beauty in nature—spending hours hunting ginseng, growing vegetables, grapes, rhubarb, and asparagus in his ever-expanding garden, or adopting every stray dog or cat that crossed his path.

Lynn found great joy in his faith, living with a quiet but steady devotion to and love for his Lord. He also loved his family fiercely, always finding time to playfully tease his nieces and nephews and care for his beloved parents. Lynn was, in every sense of the word, one of a kind—a unique soul with a love for the land, a heart for others, and a knack for finding joy in life's simplest pleasures. His memory will live on in every shared story, every stray that finds a home, and every simple moment spent in nature's quiet beauty.

He is survived by his father, Floyd Stout; by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Colene & Terry Rice, Tina & Roy York, Elaine Stout, and Betty Jane Russell; by his nieces and nephews, Travis Irvin, Brandy Humbers, Heather Cundiff, Abbygail Gangloff, Matt York, Levi York, and Nicole Buchanan; and by his great-nieces and nephews, Cameron Cundiff, Colton Cundiff, Tori Crowder, Asher Irvin, Elizabeth Humbers, Samuel Humbers, Kaylee Pettigrew, Abryella Bricker, Chandler Wilson, and Alik Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou (Davis) Stout.

Lynn is to be cremated without a public service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements.
