Floyd Goff, 86, of Robinson, IL, died on Monday, May 14th in the comfort of his home. He was born on August 18, 1931 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of George R. Goff & Florence May (Littlejohn) Goff, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Virginia Knapp on February 19, 1955 and she preceded him in death on March 17, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Lloyd Goff, by his brothers, John Goff, George Goff, Jerry Goff, and David Goff; and by his sister, Margaret Ann Goff. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Gina & Roy Mullins (New Hebron, IL); by his granddaughter & her husband, Jennifer & Jake Lemeron (Evansville, IN); by his step-grandsons, Christopher Mullins (Robinson, IL) and Joshua Mullins (Robinson, IL); by his half-brother, Leo Kimmel (Aurora, CO); as well as several nieces and nephews. Floyd proudly answered his country’s call, serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Siboney. Back home, he went to work for many years as a foreman for Ettelbrick Shoe Company before getting on at Victor Dana, where he was employed for 15 years before retiring in 2001. Outside of work, he liked to spend his time outdoors. In his younger years, Floyd could often be found camping and also spent countless hours in his garden. In recent years, most of his time and affections were poured out on his “little sweetie”, his granddaughter, Jenny. Friends and family alike will remember Floyd as a selfless, giving soul who never knew a stranger. He was a member of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, the Loyal Order of Moose #1369, and a charter member of the Palestine Eagles Aerie #3329. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17th at the funeral home, with Pastor Jon Wiseman officiating the service. Burial will immediately follow and will be held at Jones Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, American Legion Post #69, and Marine Corps League Det #546, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
