Florence Helen Huss, age 97, of Robinson, IL passed away peacefully at 3pm on Sunday November 30th in the comforting care of family, Hospice, and Ridgeview Care Center nurses and staff in Oblong, IL. She was born July 28, 1917 in Ste. Marie, IL the daughter of Francis & Eugenie (Parisot) Hann. Her father “Frank” was from Ste. Marie and mother Eugenie was from Somonauk, IL. In February 1944 she married LeRoy P. Huss in Ste. Marie, IL and into this union were born seven children. Florence was a member of St. Elizabeth Church. She enjoyed her home, her family, and her church family. Florence loved babies and prior to marriage had been a nanny to many newborns and young children. Locally, she was known in her younger years by many teens as “Flo” when she worked at both the Robinson Dog-N-Suds and the Robinson High School cafeteria. In her retirement she had been a volunteer at her church, the clothing center, and the food pantry. Reading, embroidery, quilting, flower gardening, birds and the outdoors were among her many interests. Preceding Florence in death were her husband LeRoy (1982), granddaughter Jennifer Rich (1988), daughter-in-law Janet Huss (2010), daughter Mary Beth Huss-Culler (2012), brother Harold Hann (2008), and sister Frances Hahn (2010). She is survived by two sons, Don Huss of Lawrenceville and Tom Huss of Hutsonville; four daughters, Genie White of Stoy, Angie Cornett of Robinson, Nancy Truitt of Robinson, and Reita (Bob) Duvall of Hutsonville. Surviving grandchildren are Shannon (Chrystal) White, Kevin (Carol) White, Reggie (Jodi) Truitt, Will (Jenn) Truitt, Nathan (Sherry) Michl, Tyler Huss, and Megan Calvert. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren. On the Friday prior to her passing Florence had just met and held her youngest great-granddaughter. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with a rosary service following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5th at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson with Reverend Aloysius Okey Ndeanaefo officiating the ceremony. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Good Samaritan Hospice, Vincennes, IN; to the Ridgeview Care Center Activity Department, Oblong, IL; or to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson, IL, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
