Florence "Flo" Henderson, 88, of Robinson, IL died September 15, 2019, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 17, 1931 in Colver, PA, the daughter of Michael & Verna (Hurtak) Shutack, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Irvin Henderson on November 27, 1953, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry "Bubba" Carter; as well as three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son, Mike Henderson (Robinson, IL); by her three daughters & sons-in-law, Lea and Stan Reno (Robinson, IL), Kathy & Alan Lake (Robinson, IL), and Stephanie & Darrin Boyd (Indianapolis, IN); by her granddaughter & her husband, Christina & Mike Moler; by her grandson & his wife, Billy & Stephanie Carter; by her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Grace, Michael, Brooklann, Olivia, and Will; by three brothers and two sisters; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Her friends and family remember Flo as one of the most kind-hearted and selfless people you'd ever have the opportunity to meet. She was the type of person who couldn't help but put the needs of others before her own. Simply put, she loved with every fiber of her being. One way she showed love was through cooking. No matter what she made, be it beef stew, spaghetti, or pigs in a blanket, she made it with so much care that it was evident in every bite you took. Her prowess in the kitchen led her to establish Florence's Restaurant, (lovingly referred to as "Flo's"), a staple of the community for over 20 years. From 1985 until she sold it to her daughter in 2004, she poured her heart and soul into the business, and it showed in the countless regulars she had the opportunity to serve over those years. Flo's legacy of selfless service to others will continue to live on in our hearts and minds. May her memory continue to teach us what love is supposed to look like. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18th at the Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson, IL. Following the graveside, the family invites everyone to gather back at the old Flo's Restaurant, now known as "TJs", to continue celebrating what she has meant to us over dinner. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the "Palestine Public Library", or to the donor's choice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
