Fern Eleanor Staten, 64 of Martinsville, IL, died at 10:00 a. m. (e.s.t.) Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born May 8, 1943 in East Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, PA, the daughter of Edward I. Dunkelberger and Gertrude A. Werner Dunkelberger. She was a homemaker and had worked as a housekeeper in Hobe Sound, FL where she and her husband had made their home for 30 years, prior to moving back to Martinsville. She also attended the Hobe Sound Bible Church in Hobe Sound, FL and also at the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Palestine, IL. She married James Staten on June 8, 1972 and he survives. She is also survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Frank Goodrich, Stuart, FL and Rachel and Gary Clark, Coolidge, AZ; 2 grandsons, Dakota Goodrich and Timothy Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandchildren; 3 sisters and 1 brother.Funeral services are Wednesday, October 10th at 2:30 p.m. at the Palestine Pilgrim Holiness Church located at Gordon, IL. Rev. Paul Gray and Rev. Robert Morehouse are in charge of services. Burial is in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, and 1 hour preceding service time on Wednesday at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Fern Staten Memorial Fund, with envelopes at the funeral home.
