Faye (Brown) Tracy, 61, of Robinson, IL, passed away on December 4, 2022, in the comfort of her home. She was born on January 9, 1961, in Lawrenceville, IL, the daughter of James Brown & Barbara (Baud) Brown. She grew up in Flat Rock, IL, where she attended grade school before transferring over to Robinson High School. Following her graduation in 1979, Faye briefly worked at the Ettelbrick Shoe factory before being hired as a cashier at IGA. Her bubbly, personable nature led her to become a customer favorite at the grocery store, evidenced by the fact that her lane always had the longest line! After a decade of dedicated service, she decided to make a change, finding employment at Fair Rite for a few years before marrying Rick Tracy on November 6, 1993. The following chapter of her life found Faye riding shotgun in her husband's semi, and together, they enjoyed taking in the beauty of God's creation by way of cross-country road trips.
Before long, they had a son, Landon, who immediately became the heartbeat of his mother's life. So, she became a homemaker, that is, until he entered kindergarten, and she followed him to Washington Grade School, where she spent the next eight or nine years as a beloved lunch lady. By all accounts, "Ms. Faye" was loved by the students. They will forever cherish memories of her dancing with the kids and will never forget just how present she was with them. But that was just Faye. She refused to let you be a stranger and genuinely loved nothing more than getting to know anyone who crossed her path.
Her selfless, giving love was evident in the many delicious meals she made for her family. Faye's specialty was comfort food, and she could whip up something tasty off the top of her head in a matter of minutes. For as talented as she was at cooking, she was equally good at accidentally dumping it all on the floor! It wouldn't stay there long, however, as she prided herself in keeping a very tidy home. This speaks to her active, hard-working nature, as well as her heart to provide the best she could for those she loved. And that's precisely what she did throughout her 61 years.
Though we grieve her passing, we cannot help but look back on her life and find it saturated with love, joy, and faith. After all, Faye was a longtime member of the South Union Church in Flat Rock, where her beautiful voice could be heard singing songs of worship to her Savior. But more than anything, it was the way she lived her life that bore witness to her relationship with Jesus. We find hope and assurance that, on Sunday morning, she found herself wrapped in His loving arms.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Rick Tracy; by their children, Erica & Greg Staley, Alisha Hatfield, Derek Tracy, and Landon Tracy; by seven grandkids, Cierra Tracy, Madi Staley, Brianne McKinley, Lydia Tracy, Bentley Hoke, Charley Tracy, and Olivia Tracy; by her German Shepherd "grandpup", Bailey; by her mother, Barbara Brown; by her siblings, Tammy Pinkstaff & her husband Terry, Bob Brown & his significant other, Becky, Leroy Brown, Susie Osborn, and Missy Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Brown; her sister, Mindy Brown; and her nephew, Jamie Brown.
