Evangeline CiersEvangeline Ciers, 81, of rural Flat Rock, died at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, May 4th at her home. She was born, July 16, 1927 the daughter of William Bryant and Helen Plaskett Bryant. She was a housewife. She was a member of the Kathryn Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Robinson, the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and attended LTC Water Aerobics for 6 years. She received an award for her large blood donations to the American Red CrossShe married Joseph Alex Ciers on September 16, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson. Evangeline is survived by 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Bella Ciers, Whiting, IN, Joel Ciers, Conroe, TX, Bruce Ciers, Crete, IL, Bill Ciers and Ann Hubbard, Highland, IN, and Jamie Ciers, Flat Rock, who was her caregiver since her husband died; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanelle Ciers, Whiting, IN, Barbrie and Steve Kelm, Flat Rock, Julie Hollington, Kelowana, British Columbia, Canada, Betty and James Boles, Naples, Italy; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and her brother, William Cullen Bryant, Arlington, TX.A reception will be held from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16th at their residence, 8688 E. 300th. Ave, Flat Rock, IL. 62427. It is her wish to have her body donated to science at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Carbondale, IL. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
