Eva Mae “Maggi” (Strange) Motor, 91, of Robinson, IL, died at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born July 2, 1927 in Petty Township, Lawrence County, IL, the daughter of Charles Strange & Mamie Ruth (Waggoner) Strange, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Nial R. Motor, Jr. on July 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2011 after nearly 65 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Mervin “Doc” Strange and Robert Strange; by her sisters, Evelyn “Bird” Sholders and Marjorie Sempsrote; and by her sister-in-law, Sheryl Strange. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Becky Motor (Springfield, IL); by her daughter & son-in- law, Mindy & Scott Erton (Palestine, IL); by her grandchildren, Natalie Motor (Springfield, IL), Ethan Knoblett (Fort Richardson, AK), Collin Knoblett (Palestine, IL), Tim Erton (Offutt Air Force Base, NE), and Kendra & Tyler Potter (Stoy, IL); by her brothers & a sister-in-law, Melvin Strange (Bridgeport, IL) and Donald & Barbara Strange (Bridgeport, IL); by her great-grandson, Ryker Potter (Stoy, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Maggi grew up on a small farm between Sumner and Chauncey, and this helped to instill in her a steadfast work ethic. Early in life, she was a beautician, and this served her family well for years. She dedicated her entire life to making a home for her beloved family. Her house was always well-kept, and the smell of her renowned cakes often radiated through its halls. Since the early ‘50s, she has been a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Robinson, IL. Friends and family alike will remember Maggi as a happy woman who could light up a room with her smile. She was a giving, caring soul who lived to take care of others. She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and a doting “grammy” to her grandchildren, who had a special place in her heart. Her love and kindness will live on in all who loved her. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Akers officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either Southeastern Illinois Hospice or to Crawford County 4-H, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
