Eura E. Bailey

Eura E. Bailey, 96, of Palestine, died at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home in Robinson, IL. He was born April 6, 1914 in rural Oblong, the son of Frank R. Bailey & Nancy Bishop Bailey. He was a pipefitter, working for Marathon for nearly 35 years before retiring in 1977. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Robinson Fire Department for 27 years and was member of the Robinson Wesleyan Church.Eura married Lucille Carpenter on November 25, 1936 and she preceded him in death on March 24, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Noble D. Bailey and Nolan C. Bailey; and two sisters, Geneva King and Nenna McElravy.He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pauletta & Norris Adams, Palestine, and Rowena & Dale Turner, AZ; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Daniel Szombathy and David Ducommon officiating. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Wesleyan Church or donor€™s choice.
