Ernest William Patton, 97, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. He was born October 2, 1912 in Woodlawn, Pennsylvania the son of William James Patton and Bernice Dewrose Patton. Ernie was a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, Quail Creek Country Club, Robinson Masonic Lodge # 250, Danville Consistory, was an Ambassador for the Ainad Shrine of East St. Louis and a devoted contributor to the Lincoln Trail College Scholarship Foundation. He was actively involved in the community having served on the City Council as a representative of Ward 1, past President of the LTC Foundation, on the boards of the First Financial Bank and the Crawford County State Bank. Ernie owned and operated the Crawford County Title Company, WTAY Radio Station and a real estate office. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson.Ernie married Marilyn Mason and she preceded him in death. He married Mary Duncan in January 1948 and she preceded him in death on November 4, 1986. He married Helen Persinger on December 10, 1995 and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Ernie is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Herda Patton; 2 step-sons and their wives, Stephen and Sheila Persinger and Warren and Julie Persinger; grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Evelyn R. Patton and Jean A. Tallian. A funeral mass will be conducted by Father Aloysius Okey Ndeanaefo at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31 at St. Elizabeth€™s Catholic Church in Robinson. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, Tuesday. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Trail College Scholarship Foundation, 408 S. Cross St, Robinson, IL. 62454 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
