Ellee Grantlee Braxtyn Baker entered this world on October 8, 2024, in Vincennes, IN, and though her time with us was brief, it was filled with joy, love, and wonder. In her two hours of life, she showed the world just how sweet, strong, and sassy she truly was. Ellee was, in every way, a bright light in the lives of those who loved her, and her memory will forever be cherished. She is survived by her loving parents, Philip & Laura (Bogard) Baker; her big brothers, Brody Baker and Reese "Butters" Baker; her grandparents, Ron & Terie Baker and Rick & Mona Bogard; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a sea of friends and family who were touched by her beautiful presence.
Even before they knew for certain they were expecting, her family was greeted by a mother sea turtle showing off her baby on vacation—a sign they would come to treasure. That baby turtle's visit was a reminder that life's most precious gifts sometimes arrive quietly and unexpectedly. From the moment they first saw her on the ultrasound, she earned her nickname 'Frogger,' kicking and showing off her athletic little self. While in her mommy's tummy, she enjoyed kicking her daddy in the face, just for fun! She had her own little cravings too—especially cucumbers, blueberries, red peppers, and cinnamon rolls (with just the right amount of icing). Her sweet, sassy spirit was clear from the start, earning her affectionate nicknames like 'ElleeBean' and 'Sweet & Sassy.'
Ellee left an unforgettable impression on everyone who knew her. Her strength amazed the doctors and nurses, and her personality shone through as she held her hands like a little diva. She was 8 1/2 inches long—much taller than average for her stage—proving that her brothers were right to fear that she'd have ended up taller than both of them! She made them laugh, even in their imagining of her future.
Though her time was short, she brought an eternity's worth of happiness to her family. The Bakers are celebrating the joy she brought, comforted by the thought that Ellee has now joined her cousin Charlie in heaven's "Thunder Team," where she'll surely be producing the thunder while Charlie brings the lightning. Together, they'll light up the skies, just as Ellee lit up our lives.
A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson will be handling these arrangements.
