Edward H. Misner, 62 of rural West York, IL, died at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN at 1:13 a.m. (e.s.t.) on Friday, December 11, 2009. He was born November 10, 1947 in Robinson, IL, the son of William H. Misner and Ellen Ashley Misner. He worked for Caterpiller in Peoria, IL for several years, and had been employed by Stewart Security in Robinson. Ed was also a policeman, Captain of the P.D. in Peoria for several years. He was working at the Police Department, going to college in Law school, and working full-time at Sears Auto Repair as Manager, and at Caterpiller full-time, all at the same time. He was a decorated veteran in the U. S. Army, serving during the Viet Nam War. He received 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, an Oak Leaf Cluster, a Distinguished Service Cross and attained the rank of Sergeant in the 101 Air Borne. He was a member of the West Union American Legion Post #1130, the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348, and a member of the Danville Consistory. He married Pam Gardner and she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Ellen Misner of Granby, MO; his 13 children, Kim, Thomas Edward, Brian, Monika Amelia, Melodie Anne, Mindie Christine, Edward H. Misner, Jr., Catrina Rose, Phyllis Lavina Kay, Elisabeth Joanna, Shalomin Naomi Ruth, Hadassah Renee’ and Sara Jean; 17 grandchildren; his sister, Pamela Connor, Peoria; his aunt, several uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father; an infant sister, Violet Louise Misner; and his aunt, Myrtle Lavina Misner, who raised him part-time.Funeral services are Wednesday, December 16th at 12:00 noon at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Brother William Bynum is in charge of services. Burial is in the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, IL. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted by the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Hutsonville American Legion Post, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549. Memorials may be made to the Edward H. Misner Memorial Fund and left at the funeral home or mailed to Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, P. O. Box 129, Palestine, IL 62451.
