Edrie Knight

September 22, 1934 — June 15, 2019

Edrie Knight, 84, of Robinson, IL, died at 8:42 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Arcola Health Care Center in Arcola, IL. She was born September 22, 1934, in Filson, IL, one of 8 children born to Carl Franklin Vandeveer & Freda (Davis) Vandeveer. Edrie grew up in the Arcola area for much of her early life, but upon marrying Maynard C. Knight on June 27, 1952, she and her young family moved all over the United States. From 1977-1995, she and Maynard lived in CO, where they managed their own “U-Pump-It” gas station, and these were some of the happiest years of her life. Back in Illinois, she could often be found working on various crafts, and was particularly fond of sewing and crocheting. Anyone who knew her could attest to her love of Raggedy Ann dolls. Edrie will be remembered for being an ornery but tender soul who loved her family with her whole heart. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Leonard Bruce & Cheryl Knight (Robinson, IL), Wayne Franklin & Becky Knight (Grover, CO), K.K. “Kerry” & Gloria Knight (Palestine, IL); by her daughter, Tanya Y. & Les Wilson (Newburgh, IN); by her 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; by her brothers & sisters-in-law, Dave & Peg Vandeveer (Arcola, IL) and Carl, Jr. & Sandy Vandeveer (Arcola, IL); by her sisters & brothers-in-law, Reta & Joe Headrick (Arcola, IL) and Sue & Tom Romine (Arcola, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Maynard on October 22, 2008; by her brother, Don Vandeveer; and by her sisters, Clara Hutton and Evelyn “Ebby” Crist. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with her grandson, Pastor Brooks Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, who is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through funded research and ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
