Edith "Polly" Lowe

Edith “Polly” Lowe, 94, of Robinson, IL died at 6:17 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was born on April 20, 1924, the daughter of Elzie Samuel Dressback & Katie Faye (Harris) Dressback, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Ashbel “Ash” Lowe on August 12, 1943 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas Lee Lowe; by her brother, Kenneth Howard Dressback; and by her sister, Esther Ellen Myers. She is survived by her granddaughters, Jolie & Jason Wilson (Lehigh Acres, FL) and Angela & Kevin Raposo (Cape Coral, FL); by her great-grandchildren, Madison, Jaden, and Jaxon; by her daughter-in-law, Kim; by her brother, Winferd “Windy” & Betty Dressback (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Polly was born and raised in the Oblong, IL area, where she attended and graduated school. She was a longtime hairdresser and beautician in the area, having operated her own salon out of her house for many years before having to close her shop five years ago due to health reasons. Anyone who walked through her door could attest to her wit, Polly being one of the funniest people you’d ever have the opportunity to meet! A woman of faith, she was a longtime and devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robinson. She was also a member of the Robinson Elks and Illini Prairie Quilt Guild. Polly was a beloved friend and a precious grandma. No one could ever take her place; after all, life can be the same after a trinket has been lost, but never after the loss of a treasure. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to “Shriner’s Hospitals for Children”, an organization near and dear to Polly’s heart.
