Doyle Caton passed away Thursday October 17 2019 at the age of 90. Doyle’s journey began on September 25, 1929 to Mary Belle Norris and Connie Irvin Caton in Prairie Creek, IN. The year after his birth the Great Depression occurred. Doyle’s family struggled like many during this time but worked hard and overcame. He spent his days helping his father on their farm and for extra money breaking horses with this dad. He was in the Indiana National Guard, then He served honorably in the Korean War with the 15th engineer Battalion from 1954-1956 stationed in Nurnberg, Germany. He worked at Quaker Maid in Terre Haute, IN where he met his wife, Edith England in 1957. He married Edith on January 11, 1958. In 1977 He and Edith moved to California where they became apartment Managers for many years before moving back to Illinois. They celebrated 61 years of marriage in January of 2019. Doyle will be remembered for his love of Country Music. He and his Sister Freda won many singing contests and Doyle played in a local Band that entertained many people on weekends. Doyle also enjoyed gardening, fixing things and he had a gift for storytelling. In addition to his Parents he is preceded in death by his brothers John Rufus Caton, Lewis Burnette Caton, Sidney Athel Caton, Ernist Curtis Caton, Charles Wesley Caton and his sisters Francis “Fanny” Elizabeth (Caton) Padgett, Ruby Josephine (Caton) Hodge and Doris Faye Caton. He is survived by his wife Edith, Brother Walter Lee Caton and wife Deatrice Ann, James Irvin Caton and his sister Freda Maxine (Caton) Holmes. Doyle has 4 Children, Steven England and wife LaVeta, Mike England and wife Dee, Daughter Darlena (Caton) deSha and husband Conway and Jimmy Caton, 8 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren and many Nephews, Nieces and Grand-Nephews and Nieces. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd at the Christian Church in West Union, IL. A service of remembrance will immediately follow and will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church. His family is in charge of services.
