Leon Douglas "Doug" Myles, 53, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on April 18, 2022, at Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus in Terre Haute, IN. He was born March 20, 1969, in Sullivan, IN, the son of Harry "Butch" & Judy (Robbins) Myles, both of whom survive. He is also survived by his sister & brother-in-law, Robin & Brad Shaffer; his brother, Robert Myles; his nieces & their families, Rachelle & Jeremy Hillhouse (and their daughter, Hailey), Rebecca & Jacob Keller (and their children, Peyton, Aria, and Able), Renee & Roger Scarbrough, and Katelynn Myles; his nephews, Garrett Myles and Justin Myles; his aunts & uncles, Sarah Myles, Dorothy McColly, Linda Dix, Mary & Wayne Dix, Sara Ruprecht, and Greg & Pam Robbins; as well as several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon Myles, Doris (Myles) Munden, and Howard & Lois Robbins; his uncles & aunt, Don & Nancy Myles, Ron Dix, and Bob McColly; and his cousin, Luke Mehler.
Doug grew up in the Hutsonville area and was a 1987 graduate of HHS. Though he worked for Bolin Enterprises in Casey and Beard Pools in Robinson, he eventually took to the pavement as an over-the-road truck driver, a career that found him traveling through much of the continental U.S. When he wasn't driving, he could often be found outdoors. Doug was an avid hunter and also enjoyed the peace and tranquility that comes with fishing. A sports fan, he was especially enamored with the St. Louis Cardinals and made many treks to Busch Stadium over the years. Time at home was often spent playing Phase 10 or Euchre with his family. They brought life to his living, and nothing meant more to him than simply spending time with those he loved most.
They will remember Doug as a funny jokester who never knew a stranger. He was a loving soul who lived with a sense that life is what you make it. A baptized member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church, we are thankful that the life we remember hasn't ended, but, by the grace of God, will live on into eternity!
