Dorothy "June" Badgley

June 30, 1929 — September 13, 2023

Dorothy "June" Badgley, 94, of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, at Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes, IN. She was born in Robinson on June 30, 1929.

June loved sewing and various crafts and, for a time, had a fabric store in her home in rural Robinson. This creative nature led her to quilting. She and her husband, Gene, purchased a long arm quilting machine and she made several quilts for family and friends. After her beloved husband, Gene, passed away, June invested in a newer model Gammill quilting machine and would continue to quilt for many satisfied customers. The years never seemed to slow her down. In fact, she earned the nickname "Energizer Bunny" because she never seemed to stop! That being said, she did make time for travel, visiting family members out west and taking part in several bus trips through First Robinson Savings Bank. She looked forward to visiting Branson but was especially thrilled to check the Grand Ole Opry off her bucket list.

Back home, June held membership with the James Halstead, Sr. Chapter of the DAR. A woman of faith, she was a charter member of the Hebron Road Church of Christ, later joining the Outer West Market Church of Christ in Palestine. In recent years, she attended the Birds Free Methodist Church. In the twilight of her life, she resided at the Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes, IN, following a fall that left her seriously injured. Even here, her strong spirit would shine through. After all, when June wanted something done, she wanted it done yesterday!

Though she made countless treasures throughout her life, her best work wasn't made with a needle and thread but with the love that stitched together her family. She is survived by her children & their spouses, Brenda & Ronnie Myer, Cindy Shick, and Mike & Judy Badgley, as well as her grandchildren & their spouses, Rhonda & Gail Kirkham, Jody Myer, Angie & Cory Bogard, Amy & Mike Miller, Bill & Jan Shick, and Don Shick. Her legacy continues to grow through her 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, and she will be lovingly remembered by several cherished nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eugene R. Badgley; her parents, Ben & Edith (McIntosh) Miller; her brother, Claude Miller; her sister, Mildred Garrard; and her son-in-law, Bud Shick.
