Dorothy Ann Allen “Dottie” Batman, 68 of rural Robinson, IL, died peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 4:00 a.m. in her home. She was born December 28, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harold P. Allen and Anna M. Hazel Allen. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the Robinson Highland Church of Christ. She graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a social worker in Chicago and taught kindergarten in Ledyard, CT. She owned her own craft’s shop, “Shirts and More”, and loved to sew and do needlepoint. She published a cook book, played in several bridge clubs, and coached the Crawford County swim team. She is leaving many priceless memories for her family.She married Stan Batman on July 4, 1964 and he survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Delberta Batman, Madison, IN; her daughter and son-in-law, Leanne and John Anderson, Davenport, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Ruslan Batman, Issac Anderson, Nate Anderson, and Luke Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.She spent her last years battling various illnesses and her family is comforted knowing she is at peace with her God. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Tom Buchanan is in charge of services. Burial is in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation is Monday, January 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Highland Church of Christ with envelopes at the funeral home.
