Doris Jane Meeker

Doris Jane Meeker, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2009, at Fairview Baptist Home in Downers Grove, IL, where she has resided for the past twelve years. She was born on December 23, 1922 in Petty Township, Crawford County, IL, the daughter of the late Chester Emery Rosborough and the late Ida Mae (Dunlap) Rosborough. Formerly of Countryside, IL, she retired in 1985 from Electro-Motive Division, General Motors Corporation in Hodgkins, IL. While living in Robinson, IL, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is the cherished mother of Kenneth Meeker (Karen) of Homer Glen, IL, loving grandmother of Tammy Leonard (Gordon) of Knoxville, TN, and great grandmother of Allan, Joey, Andrew and Jenna Leonard. She is survived by her son-in-law, Harry Spadoni Jr., Summit, IL, her sister-in-law, Alene Rosborough (the late Forrest), Olney, Il., her sister-in-law, Norma Trainor (the late Max), Robinson, IL, her sister-in-law, Marilyn Simons (the late Charles), Robinson, IL, her sister-in-law, Martha Tracy (Richard), Newton, IL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Meeker and her daughter, Karen (Meeker) Spadoni. Also, preceding her in death are her sister, Eunice Ikemire, half sister, Harriet Harbison Osborn (Don), brothers Harry, Kenneth and Forrest, sister-in-law, Virginia Schutte (the late Charles) and brother-in-law, Edward Meeker (the late Eve). Visitation will be Sunday, August 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10.
