Doris E. Stifle

Doris Stifle, 86, of Robinson, IL, died December 26, 2019, in the comfort of her daughter & son-in-law's home in Robinson. She was born September 29, 1933, in Oblong, IL, the daughter of Everett Chapman & Hazel Chapman, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert "Bob" Stifle on January 4, 1952, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Macie Hollinger and Donna Bogaczyki; and by her brother, Kenneth Chapman. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Dee Dee & J.C. Brookhart (Robinson, IL); by her grandson, Bowe & Sidney Cravens (Effingham, IL); by two granddaughters, Chloe & Ricky Szudy (Vincennes, IN) and Sophie Brookhart (Bridgeport, IL); by her great-grandson, Lincoln Andrew Szudy (Vincennes, IN); Louise & Don Turner (Marshall, IL); by her brother-in-law, John Voorheis (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris grew up in the Oblong area and was a graduate of Oblong High School. Her professional life was spent as the face behind the desk at the Allen Sanitarium, and was the smile that greeted patients as they walked into Dr. Allen's office. Away from work, Doris could often be found engulfed in a good book or crocheting countless creations for her beloved family. Nothing meant more to her than simply spending time with those she loved, especially her grandson, Bowe, who held a special place in her heart. She was her family's "cheerleader", a constant companion and advocate who showered them with kindness and love throughout their lives. Her love lives on in their hearts, and she will never be forgotten; after all, life can be the same after a trinket has been lost, but never after the loss of a treasure. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29th at the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, with Pastor Kenneth Hughes officiating. Memorials may be made to "Lincolnland Hospice", with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
