Doris E. Miller

October 4, 1942 — July 7, 2022

Doris E. Miller, 79, of Robinson, IL, passed away on July 7, 2022, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. She was born October 4, 1942, in Hidalgo, IL, the daughter of Evert & Mable (Gordon) Bright. She grew up in the Greenup area and would go on to marry Bill Miller on April 17, 1960. Before tying the knot, he jokingly suggested that she needed to do her part to help pay off his bills! And so it was that she entered the workforce, first at the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory and a local restaurant before finally landing at Victor Dana. Here, she tried her hand at just about every position available before finally retiring as a screen print catcher after 28 years of dedicated service.

Much of her time away from work found Doris and Bill traveling. Together, they took in the natural beauty of the Bahamas and Cancun and also visited much of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Back home, they would often go boating and were known to fish together at the forest preserve. Needless to say, wherever one went, the other wasn't far behind. Doris was a dedicated wife who also poured into her children and grandchildren. They will remember her fondness of Crazy Eights and Hand and Foot with great affection, as game nights meant time together.

Though Doris could, at times, be a little too outspoken, her generosity of spirit was evident throughout her life. She would routinely put others' needs ahead of her own and loved with her whole heart. Though we grieve her loss, we are so thankful that she filled her 79 years with real and meaningful living.

She married Bill Miller on April 17, 1960, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Brenda Sheahan, Debbie & Dale Kamplain, Marsha Baker, and Nancy & Donnie Hoke, as well as several beloved grandkids and great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Janet Faye Miller and Kathy Duvall; and her siblings, Alberta, Evelyn, Larry, and Richard.
