Donna Sue Mccloud

July 19, 1947 — November 5, 2022

Donna Sue McCloud, 75, of Robinson, IL, passed away on November 5, 2022, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. She was born on July 19, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Donald & Helen (Weiss) Jones. She grew up Desloge, MO, and was a 1965 graduate of Desloge High School. She furthered her education at Jewish Hospital (now Barnes-Jewish) in St. Louis and, through a lot of hard work, became a registered nurse. She would go on to work as an RN at the State Hospital in St. Louis for six years before devoting her time and effort to her house and those who called it "home". It was here that her talents in the kitchen shined, as she was able to whip up some of the best ambrosia and chili you'd ever get a chance to enjoy! Her vegetable soup was a staple in the McCloud house, especially during the autumn months. When she wasn't cooking, chances were that she would be crafting. In addition to making jewelry, Donna was known to crochet and work on needlepoints, and in doing so, she left behind countless treasures for her family and friends.

In 1978, the McClouds moved to the Robinson area, and soon, she re-entered the workforce by way of Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. Here, she worked as a nurse in the psychiatric unit for ten years. It was at this stage of her life that she became highly active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she made and maintained numerous treasured relationships. She also made friends at the bowling alley, having been a part of several bowling leagues over the course of many years. While she liked to bowl, eventually, golfing became her passion. Donna and her husband, Mac, spent countless hours on the Oak Glen and Quail Creek courses and made a number of trips to Hilton Head, primarily to play golf. Lovers of travel, she and Mac enjoyed vacationing whenever the opportunity presented itself.

But still, there was no place like home. Her house was home to an extensive Longaberger basket collection as well as her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Shanie. Simply put, Donna adored that dog. Though her house had seen the entrance (and exit) of several animals, something was special about Shanie. She could do anything she wanted, which, if you knew Donna, that's saying something! After all, she possessed a strong personality that continually reminded you that she was in charge. That wasn't a bad thing when you consider how well-organized Donna was. This planner-extraordinaire laid the very structure upon which her family was able to thrive. They will remember her tenacious spirit with respect and fondness as they set out to live as her lasting legacy.

She married Mac McCloud on November 30, 1968, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Lori & Ken Favata; her grandsons, Christopher Favata and Erik Favata; her brother, Phil Jones; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Connie Muse.
