Donna Sue Henry

Donna Sue Henry, 81, of Oblong, IL, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.

She was born on March 30, 1943, in Robinson, IL. Donna grew up in Robinson, where she formed the foundation of her character and values. A 1962 graduate of Robinson High School, she would work for a number of local institutions, including Harmon's Drug Store, Crawford Memorial Hospital, the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, and Victor Dana. She married Lewis Edward Henry on November 25, 1972, and they built their life in Oblong. After the birth of their son, Lewis, she took pride and joy in being a full-time mom and housewife.

Donna's life was one of engagement and enthusiasm. She served on the board of directors of the Oblong Academic Foundation, contributing her time and energy to the betterment of education within her community. Donna also helped Oblong as a cheerleader sponsor for several years.

She found joy in taking trips to Gatlinburg, TN, and in the comfort of watching the Hallmark Channel. Donna's love for visiting and enjoying a donut with friends and family was a testament to her belief in the importance of connection and the value of shared moments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Okie" and Wanda (Terry) Parker; her husband, Lewis Edward Henry; her son, Lewis Lee Henry; and her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Harold Sparks.

Donna is survived by her nephews and nieces: Robb Sparks; Rod and Suzy Sparks (and their daughter, Baylee); Joe and Nikki Henry (and their children, Kristin and Raegan); Bill Henry; Jodi and Jeff Wiman; and Pam Henry Thomas.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1st, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Oblong Academic Foundation," with envelopes available at the funeral home.
