Donald W. Illyes

Donald W. Illyes, 51, of rural Flat Rock, IL, died at 10:05 a.m. (E.S.T.) Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born March 29, 1959 in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Gerald W. Illyes and Norma Jean Crouch Illyes. Don was a farmer. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Vincennes, IN, and the Crawford County Farm Bureau. He was named Outstanding Farmer of the Year in 1991 by the Robinson Jaycees.Don married Teresa Piper on December 1, 1990 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Maggie Claire Illyes at home; his 2 sons, Michael James Illyes and Max Andrew Illyes at home; his parents, Gerald and Norma Jean Illyes, rural Palestine; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Elizabeth Illyes, Marshall; 2 nephews, Matthew and Joseph Dixon, both of Vincennes, IN; and his brother-in-law, Pat Dixon, Vincennes, IN.He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ann Dixon.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Father Dave Fleck officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Band Uniform Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home or mailed to the school.
