Donald Joe Thompson, 59 of rural West York, IL, died at his home at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. He was born January 10, 1951 in Robinson, IL, the son of Joe Duane Thompson and Jean Albers Thompson. He had received 2 Associates Degrees from Lincoln Trail College, and was a self-employed building contractor from 1994 to the present time. Prior to that, he operated the €œThompson Family Hardware€ in West Union from 1984 to 1994. He attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church and loved to play the guitar. He is survived by his wife, Mollie; his mother, Jean Albers, Marshall; 2 daughters and his son-in-law, Megaen and Sam Graves, Reynolds, IL and Carrie Thompson at home; his son Caleb Thompson, Greenville, IL; his surrogate son, Louis Brenton, Memphis, TN; 2 granddaughters, Hannah and Neva Graves, Reynolds; a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Sharon Thompson, Newton, his half brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Lori Thompson, West Terre Haute, IN; several nieces and nephews; and his step mother, Nancy Thompson, Marshall.Funeral services will be Sunday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Pastor Dan Garvin is in charge of services. Burial is in the Medsker Cemetery, rural West Union. Visitation will be Saturday, April 24th at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
