Richard E. “Dick” Stewart, 68 of Robinson, IL, died at 1 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 at his home. He was born March 4, 1939, the son of Guy Stewart and Maxine Garrard Stewart. He owned and operated Stewart Security Service in Crawford County from 1971 to 1999. He was a Crawford County Deputy Sheriff and had been Police Chief of Palestine. He was a brakeman on the Illinois Central Railroad, a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, and the Quail Creek Country Club. He was a member of the Palestine Masonic Lodge #849, the Danville Consistory, the Ainad Shrine of East St. Louis, and a past member of the Crawford County Shrine Club.Dick married Dena Heatherly on March 5, 1960 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jeff Nichols, Winnsboro, SC; his grandson, Tucker Nichols, Winnsboro, SC; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim Stewart.Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Rev. Shane Bopp and Rev. John Brand are in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17th at the funeral home.
