Deloris Doree Boyd

June 5, 1926 — April 15, 2020

Deloris Doree Boyd, 93, of Robinson, IL, died April 15, 2020, at Arbor Rose of Robinson. She was born June 5, 1926, in rural Porterville, IL, the daughter of Bruce Reynolds & Edna (Zellers) Reynolds. She grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1944 graduate of Robinson High School. In August of that year, she married her sweetheart, Ward Boyd, and they went on to build a life together along with their three sons. Each could attest to Deloris' kind heart, which she poured out to children, especially babies. Her caring nature even led her to work as a nurse's aid for a time; but by all accounts, her heart belonged at home. She tended to many duties throughout her house, but in the kitchen, her talents really shined. She baked some of the most delicious treats you would have the opportunity to enjoy, her chocolate drop cookies in particular were the stuff of legend! A woman of faith and a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Deloris put her life in Christ's hands years ago. She understood that following Jesus means being His hands and feet, which is why she and Ward took a year out of their lives and gave it to mission work. We who are left behind have been given a beautiful picture of what it means to be a "Christian" and have the assurance that her 93 years were just the beginning in light of eternity alongside her Savior. She married Ward Boyd on August 27, 1944, and he survives. She is also survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, David & Patti Boyd (Derby, IA), Wayne & Debi Boyd (Robinson, IL), and Philip & Ann Boyd (Olney, IL); by her sister-in-law, Ruth Reynolds (Robinson, IL); and by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her step-father, Wilbur Purcell; and by her brothers, Delain & wife Gloria Reynolds and Delno Reynolds. Deloris deserves a memorable tribute. However, in this uncertain time, her family and the staff of the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson understand that attending such a service may not be in your best health interest. With this in mind, there will be a private committal held at the Kirk Cemetery, and a public visitation and memorial service will be set for a later date.
