Delno "Smitty" Smith

Delno "Smitty" Smith,88, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Arbor Rose of Robinson. He was born on October 25, 1929 in Oblong, IL, the son Cyril Smith & Faye (Cox) Smith; both of whom preceded him in death. He married Estalene Meeker on June 28, 1955 in Mississippi, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his brothers & sister-in-law, Howard & Lanelle Smith, Ken Smith, and Bobby Smith. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Smith and several nieces and nephews. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. After being injured in Germany he was returned state side to work for the Walter Reed Hospital. He owned and operated Smitty’s Mobile Station for over 50 years it was his true pride and joy. He also ran a U-Haul dealership for 50 years. A visitation will be held from 10:00–1:00 p.m. on May 11th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A funeral service will immediately follow and will be held at be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Watson officiating the service. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson, where military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to Arbor Rose of Robinson, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
