Delbert O. Bennett

Delbert O. Bennett, 84, of Robinson, IL, died at 10:15 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. He was born June 26, 1927 in Newton, IL, the son of Robert Bennett and Frances Jourdan Bennett. He served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. Delbert was a barber and worked at Caterpillar, Peoria, IL. He was a member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, Palestine Eagles Lodge, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and the Robinson American Legion Post #69.Delbert married Ellen Servison on May 9, 1961 and she preceded him in death on October 6, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his son, Sam Bennett; and 2 brothers, Ralph and Dale Bennett.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Linda Bennett, Lumberton, NC; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Billy Caldwell, Robinson, Frances and Danny Walton, West Union, Carol Sue and William Miller, West Union; 2 step-daughters, Candy and her husband, Kurt Callahan, Casey, Kathy Stout, Casey; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.There will be private family services held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, West Union, IL.
