David Randall Brannon

November 7, 1943 — November 28, 2020

David Randall "Randy" Brannon, 77, of Palestine, IL, died on November 28, 2020, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. He was born on November 7, 1943, in Palestine, the son of Glen Brannon & Velma (Shidler) Brannon, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Brannon, Jerry Brannon, and John Brannon; by his sister, Sally Gunn; and by his granddaughter, Britte (Brannon) White. He married Carolyn (Shook) on February 1, 1990, and she survives. He is also survived by his children & their spouses, Edward & Malinda Brannon, Melissa & Eric Weidner, Shona & Don Dunlap, and Lindsey "LJ" Brannon & Courtney Richard; by 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. For all of his life, Randy has called Palestine "home". He held a number of jobs over the course of his 77 years: from operating a sawmill, running an oil business, driving a truck, he got himself into a little bit of everything! By the time he retired out of Labor Local #1280, he had taken part in countless local projects. Away from work, chances were that Randy was outside. An avid outdoorsman, he could often be found in God's creation, be that hunting, arrowhead hunting, or fishing on the Wabash River. Gardening was also a passion of his, and a source of pride and achievement for years. However, he was even more proud of his family. They were the light of his life, and though he liked to grump at them, they will remember their Randy as a big-hearted man who would give his last dime if it would help a person in need. He could never, nor will he ever, be forgotten. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the "Shriners Hospitals for Children". Checks may be sent to: Goodwine Funeral Homes 303 E Main St Robinson, IL 62454 The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
