David R. Weir, 55, of Willow Hill, IL, died at 9:21 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in the comfort of his home. He was born on February 3, 1963 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Stanley Weir & Joyce Kay (Shelton) Weir. He grew up in the Bellair, IL area, where he first developed his love of fishing, having spent countless hours on Willow Creek with a fishing pole in hand. He was very mechanically-minded and could fix nearly anything. He especially loved to work under the hood of old cars, and was, by all accounts, a “motor-head”. He was a proud father, a loving grandpa, and a beloved son, brother, and uncle. His family has lost a strong, special soul in David Weir, who lived a life of integrity, humor, and joy. He married Danielle (Lamanske) on September 16, 2006 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Heather Dawn Weir (Robinson, IL); by two granddaughters, Cheyenne Marie Waldrop and Laura Dawn Waldrop; by his mother, Joyce Kay Weir (Robinson, IL); by his brothers, John S. Weir (Manchester, TN), Raymond L. Weir (Oblong, IL), and Jay Weir (Robinson, IL); by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Crystal L. Davis (Oblong, IL), Charlotte & Scott Akins (Oblong, IL), and Julie & Doug Bower (Jewett, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Weir; by his sister, Brenda Sue Weir; and by his daughters, Mindy Jo Weir and Brandi Nicole Weir. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14th at the Kenderdine Cemetery, near Mount Olive Baptist Church, rural West York, IL, with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, David’s family requests that memorials be made to your local cancer society.
