David Littlejohn

July 25, 1944 — November 18, 2018

David Littlejohn, 74, of Oblong, IL, went to be with the Lord at 2:16 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Carle Richland Hospital in Olney, IL. He was born July 25, 1944 in Hardinville, the son of Everett Littlejohn and Gladys (Melton) Littlejohn-Coatney. He married Phyllis (Waggoner) on March 31, 1962, and she survives. He is also survived by three daughters & a son-in-law, Rose & Doug Edwards (Annapolis, IL), Rita Wall (Oblong, IL), and Susan Littlejohn (Oblong, IL); by five grandkids; twelve great-grandkids; by two sisters & a brother-in-law, Virginia Goff (Hutsonville, IL) and Helen Mae & Floyd Tracy (Oblong, IL); by two brothers & a sister-in-law, Prentice & Nancy Littlejohn (Robinson, IL) and Joe Coatney (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father & step-mother, Everett & Pansy Littlejohn; by his mother & step-father, Gladys & Joe Coatney; by his brother, Charles Everett Littlejohn; by his grandson, Jared Duane Wall; and by his great-grandson, Mason Michael Freese. Dave grew up all over, but called Tice, Florida home for much of his childhood. Anyone who knew him could attest to the man’s work ethic. Over the course of his life, he worked in the fields as a farmer, he laid rails on the railroad, and he worked at Marathon through Morris Construction, all before retiring in 2002. Away from work, he never let dust settle, and was often found outdoors, be that fishing, hunting, or caring for his many animals. More than any of this, Dave simply enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. Burial will be in the Hardinville Cemetery. Casual dress is requested, and if you come dressed in NASCAR, Bears, or Cubs attire, all the better! Memorials may be made to his wife, “Phyllis Littlejohn”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
