David E. Miller, 58, of Palestine, IL, died January 14, 2020, at his home. He was born December 26, 1961, in Champaign, IL, but grew up in the Lawrenceville and Palestine areas. For a number of years, he worked on the railroad for Knox Kershaw, a job that required Dave to travel all over, and this was an enriching time in his life. He eventually joined Local #363 and was a boilermaker for several years before getting on with the City of Palestine. Away from work, Dave could almost always be found outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours at the river. One of his favorite past times was taking his dogs out for a ride in his Jeep. He was an animal lover, through and through, and this speaks to his gentle, kind-hearted nature. Though he found peace in solitude, his presence will forever be felt in the hearts of his beloved family: his son & daughter-in-law, David & Brittany Miller; his grandsons, Cade and Coda; his mother, Lynda Wilson; his sisters, Mary Hightshoe, Susie Franklin, and Margie Shoulders; his brothers, Tony Harrison and Joe Shoulders; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Miller and by his brother, Steve Miller. There will be a celebration of Dave's life held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
