David E. Inboden

August 29, 1954 — December 1, 2021

David E. Inboden, 67, of Palestine, IL, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born August 29, 1954, in Palestine, IL, the son of Kenneth "Spud" Inboden & Bernice "Bernie" (MacIntosh) Seaney, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Reba Mae Inboden. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Billie Jean & James Hayes (Whitesboro, TX) and their children, Macey, Chase, McKenna, and Willow; by his son, Lucas Inboden (Las Vegas, NV) and his children, Amaya and Layla; by his partner, Carolyn Parr (Palestine, IL); as well as several extended family members. Dave attended school in Palestine before answering his country's call, serving in the U.S. Army at the tail-end of the Vietnam War. Back stateside, he worked in a number of capacities for several businesses, but, by all accounts, his calling was carpentry. He worked at Carter Lumber in Robinson for a time but enjoyed a very fulfilling self-employment. Over the years, this talented carpenter put on many area decks, siding, doors, etc., and in so doing, contributed to the thriving of his community. Recent years found him woodworking still, as he was especially drawn to wood spirit carving. Another pastime that held a special place in his heart was fishing, and this provided him with countless hours of peace and tranquility. One cannot speak of Dave's life without mentioning poker! The man played with skill, both online and in-person, enjoying the camaraderie of playing alongside his friends and the thrill of playing in casinos. As we look back at the life of David Inboden, we recognize a truism: that although you don't get to choose the cards you're dealt, it's entirely up to you how to play the hand. We who knew Dave are thankful that his 67 years were marked by a warm and friendly joy that we will treasure for as long as we live. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Memorials may be made to the "VFW Transportation Fund", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
